Golda Irene Davis

Golda Irene Davis, 91, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 25th, 2012. She was surrounded by her loving family as she passed.

Golda, otherwise known as “Grandma” to most, was born in Mapel, Oklahoma on August 1, 1920 to George and Melvina Beller. She met the love of her life, Ralph Davis, in 1940 when Ralph walked up to the candy counter at Kress’ Department Store in downtown Tulsa. Looking for candy, he found something a little sweeter. Together, they made an impact on the surrounding community by serving in their local church, owning and operating Davis Grocery where she always made sure to have ample candy and Chocolate Soldiers for the children, and helped to form and organize the Keystone Volunteer Fire Department where a station is now lovingly named “Davis Station”. “Grandma” was a mentor to many and could guarantee a precious smile to anyone who crossed her path. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ at Trinity Baptist Church for over 30 years, as well as regularly maintaining fresh floral arrangements for the church, doing crafts, and telling her playful riddles to everyone she met. Her loving kindness and caring spirit will be missed by all her family and friends.

Preceding Golda in her death was her parents, George and Melvina Beller; her brother and sister; and her husband, Ralph Davis.

Golda is survived by her daughters Paula Dodson and husband Paul, and Mary Houston and husband Errol; grandchildren Shelley Adams, Matt Dodson, Amber Smith, and Danielle Houston; great-grandchildren Abigail Adams, Matthew Guynes, Emily Adams, Dylan Smith, and Kinzley Smith; as well as other relatives and many, many loved ones.

Viewing and visitation is scheduled for Friday, July 27th from 8:00am to 8:00pm with the family receiving friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 28th , 2012, at 2:00pm in the Trinity Baptist Church sanctuary, 13 W. 40th Street, Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
