Elmer “Jack” Good Jr., 91, a long-time Mannford resident passed away in Inola on Wednesday, August 8, 2012. One of five children of Elmer Watson Good and Emma (Finley) Good, he was born in Stratford, OK on April 1, 1921. Janet Gilligan and Jack were joined in marriage in Las Vegas, NV on July 17, 1959 and had enjoyed over thirty-nine years of marriage prior to her death on December 31, 1998. He served our country in the Merchant Marines component of the United States Navy during World War II. Prior to his retirement from OFIXCO after more than thirty years of employment, he had worked in just about every capacity within the company, including fork-lift driver and cabinet maker.
Jack was an avid fisherman, to say the least. He was more than a regular customer at the Hickory House in Cleveland, OK where he had eaten every meal for many years, and his daily seat choice depended on which of his special waitresses was working that day. He could always be counted on to add a little sunshine to their day.
Jack is survived by a daughter, Jackie Good of Stillwater, a son, Tom Good and wife Gail of Hampton, VA, six grandchildren, Michelle Canell, Allison Quinones, Tiffany Good-Skay, Jennifer Good, Thomas Good, and Juliana Good, ten great-grandchildren, two special nieces, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Johnson of Broken Arrow, and Thelma Johnson and husband Bobby of Inola, many grandnieces and grandnephews, and many people that he had befriended over the years. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Janet, a son, Kenneth Good, a granddaughter, Alexis Wells, two sisters, and two brothers.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, you consider a gift in Jack’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 4110 S 100th E Ave, Tulsa OK 74146, or to the Mannford Fire Victims Funds, c/o LakeChurch, (www.lake-church.com) P O Box 1944, Mannford, OK 74044.
