Shirlene Burden

Shirlene Burden, 75, Sand Springs, Oklahoma, passed from this life Wednesday, September 5, 2012.

Shirlene was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on January 3, 1937, to Rubin L. Hunt and Verga May (Jones) Hunt. She was married to Loy Burden in Wister, Ohio, on March 8, 1963. Shirlene was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Kniting, painting, making dolls, and doing all kinds of arts and crafts occupied her spare time. Whenever she was able, Shirlene loved to go fishing and spend time with her beloved family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The beautiful smile and wonderful attitude of Shirlene will be missed by her family and friends.

Preceding her in death was her parents Rubin and Virga Hunt; husband Loy Burden; brothers Dewey, Gilbert and Gelbert Hunt; sisters Dorothy Shepard and Louise Hunt; and very special friend Lloyd Sultz.

Shirlene is survived by daughters Sandra Shelton and husband Leonard of Prue, Oklahoma, Joyce Butler of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Charlotte Creekmore of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and Brenda Floyd and husband Travis of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; sister Virginia Fay McKinney of Morgantown, Kentucky; grandchildren Loy, Joyce, Talmadge, Hollie, Steven, Crystal, Sarah, James, and Jamey; 25 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services for Shirlene will be Monday, September 10, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. in the Woodland Memorial Park of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Visitation for Shirlene will be Sunday, September 9, 2012, from 1:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
