W. Maxine Schuelein

Maxine Schuelein, a former Sand Springs resident of many years, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 in North Richland Hills, Texas. One of four children of Juel Leroy Hays and Elizabeth (King) Hays, she was born in Billings, OK on August 14, 1926. Carroll J. “Kit” Schuelein took Maxine as his wife in Enid, OK on February 17, 1945 and they had celebrated over sixty-seven years of marriage prior to his death earlier this year on July 29, 2012. After graduation from High School, Maxine attended Beauty College and had her own shop for a period of time. In more recent years, she worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Moore prior to retiring. While residing in Sand Springs she and Kit were active members of the Senior Citizens Center. Maxine loved to help make flower wreaths that were sold for Memorial Day and she and Kit loved to dance at the dances held at the Center. Maxine and Kit were also faithful members of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, and they always had a warm smile and greeting for visitors and members of the church. Maxine especially loved to work in the kitchen at church.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Jean Chandler and husband John of Bedford, TX and her son Larry Schuelein and wife Miriam of Spring, TX, grandchildren, Tami Ramirez and husband Robert, and their daughter Faith, Jef Burrough and wife Marie and their children Kyler and Sterling, Traci Mann and husband Richard, and their children, Trevor and Alyssa, and Jamie Schuelein, many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her three brothers, LeRoy Hays, John Hays, and Daryl Hays.

Visitation will be on Saturday, September 8th from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, September 9th from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be in the Mausoleum Chapel of Memorial Park Cemetery in North Enid, OK at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 10, 2012. The cemetery is located on Highway 64, just north of Enid. Services have been entrusted to Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service of Sand Springs, OK.
