While in high school Shirley met Terry McCorkle and the two were married immediately following her graduation in 1971. The couple made their home in Lynnwood for the next two years before moving to Paramount, CA for a short time. Throughout the years she had interests of bowling, raising and showing AKC Cocker Spaniels-her prized champion was MoJo whom she was very proud. Activities at the FOP were always a high point for Shirley, Terry and the girls, as they would assist in building parade floats and help with the dances held there.
Halloween was a favorite time of year for Shirley because she loved dressing up and creating extravagant costumes for her and the girls. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Lloyd Cunningham.
