Sarah Ruth Hand, 86, of Sand Springs, passed from this life and into the presence of her Lord on Monday, November 12, 2012 in Tulsa. One of seven children of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Boyd, Sarah was born in Claremore on January 3, 1926. Thurman Walton Hand took Sarah Boyd to be his wife in Coweta, OK on July 15, 1942, and they had enjoyed over sixty-four years of marriage at the time of his death on November 4, 2007. Sarah was a lifetime member of Amazing Grace Holiness Church in Sand Springs.
Her roles as homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother kept her busy all the time. In between busy times she was a diligent reader and student of the Bible, which gave her wisdom and guidance in her life. Any activity with her family was special to her, and having the family around prompted her into her story-telling mode, which the family enjoyed. She also had a heart for animals.
Sarah is survived by two daughters, Marsha Hand and Glenda Harruff, a son, Doug Hand and wife Donna, all of Sand Springs, five grandchildren, Pam and David Bennett, Debbie Beyard, Dwaine and Shannon Hand, Sarah and Zac Fadling, and Sheree Wilson, eight great-grandchildren, David Allen Bennett, Christopher Harruff, Heather Tuttle, Macayla and Jordan Hand, and Dillon, Ethan, and Layla Fadling. She is also survived by other family members, friends, and her church family at Amazing Grace. Preceding Sarah in death were her parents, her husband, Thurman, a son, Stanley Hand, three sisters, Elsie Isaacs, Dottie Forrester, and Betty Conway and three brothers, Tom, Jay, and Bob Boyd.
Visitation for Sarah will be on Wednesday, November 14th from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, November 15th from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 16, 2012 at Amazing Grace Holiness Church, 807 W 2nd St, Sand Springs, with Pastor Wayne Holcomb officiating.
